The 3 Foundational Teachings of the Let Animals Lead® Method

The Let Animals Lead® Method has a solid foundation, being grounded in three guiding teachings. These teachings can help us as practitioners find our way when we may be facing a very difficult situation. If we approach the situation through the lens of these teachings, it becomes much easier to find our way.

The first foundational teaching of the Let Animals Lead® Method is the Reiki Precepts. These precepts, taught by Reiki founder Mikao Usui, provide instructions for living a balanced life. They remind us to stay mindful of our own inner emotional state and work diligently to let go of anger and worry so we can be more present with gratitude and compassion. This kind of open-hearted presence helps us find a deeper clarity in challenging moments.

The second foundation of the Let Animals Lead® Method is the 6 Pillars. These pillars provide important guidelines in how we should always allow animals to lead our process as teachers to us, in how we should remember to always see their perfection, and how mindfulness and flexibility should stay at the center of our meditation practice. These important reminders help us remember that animals are the guides and leaders in our Animal Reiki relationship. We’ll also learn how to let this possibility of animal wisdom and agency radiate out into all aspects of our relationships with other species. It’s a true path to living with more harmony on this earth!

The third foundation of the Let Animals Lead® Method is the Animal Reiki Practitioner Code of Ethics. This code is written from the inside out. It starts with guidelines for our own personal meditation practice, and this is so important because animals are so sensitive to our inner states of being. It then lays out guidelines for sharing with animals and recognizing them as active partners in the Animal Reiki relationship. It then includes a section on communicating with animals’ people. It’s so important to see ourselves as educators because if we want to work with animals, we need to also support their humans 🙂 And finally, this code explains the best values to embody when we work in the community. If we can begin to see ourselves as friends and allies to the animal welfare community at large, we can build bridges more easily to help more animals.

It’s wonderful to know, as Let Animals Lead® practitioners and teachers, that we are part of a worldwide community of animal lovers who are working diligently on themselves, respectfully with animals, with kindness to humans and professionally in the community. I truly believe that only when we have a solid foundation in our practice can we live our best life, centered in our spiritual purpose of serving others and making the world a better place!
