Who are the animals who teach you the most about Reiki?
My very first Reiki teacher was my sweet dog, Dakota – an Aussie-mix and the smartest dog I’ve ever known. In those days, I only knew how to share Reiki from a “human-centric” approach. In other words, I tried to use hand positions and focus on problem areas the way I did with myself and with my human friends.
Animals are sensitive, enlightened spiritual beings who teach through their presence and simply by being in the world. They have so much to show us about healing, if we only remember to listen when we offer Reiki. An open-minded, open-hearted approach will always build trust and confidence in animals. Remember these 7 steps to create respectful and honorable Animal Reiki relationships with animals:
Every day, I get emails, photos and videos from students sharing what a big difference the Let Animals Lead® method makes in their Reiki practice. Thanks to my student, Kelly McCarthy, for sharing the below video with us!
I‘m so excited to share with all of you, that I’ve received official trademark status for the Let Animals Lead® method of Animal Reiki!
This is an exciting step forward in acknowledging the unique methodology and philosophy this method utilizes to help animals in need.
I invite all those in my tribe who have taken this method to heart and who practice it, to share it with the world. I only ask that you always use the “®” and use the word “method” after it, plus please mention me.
For example, on your website or other public materials, you could say, if you have read my books but not studied with me: “I follow the Let Animals Lead® method of Animal Reiki as created by Kathleen Prasad.”
If you are my student, you could say, “I have been trained by Kathleen Prasad in the Let Animals Lead® method of Animal Reiki.”
If you have been trained by my students, you could say, “I have been trained (or “I am a practitioner or teacher”) in the Let Animals Lead® method of Animal Reiki, created by Kathleen Prasad.”
I learned Reiki in 1998. All those years ago, there was no such thing as online Reiki training. In fact, there was no such class specialty as Animal Reiki! Reiki for animals was merely a mention in a Reiki class or a paragraph in a Reiki book. I have taken and retaken Levels 1-3 Reiki classes (for humans) in-person in three different lineages over the years (with varying traditions of Reiju/attunements), as I’m very interested in deepening my understanding of the system of Reiki in its many forms. All in all, I’ve trained in-person for hundreds of hours in Reiki! I’ve also taken many online Reiki trainings in a variety of subjects, and received Reiju (attunements) online as well as in-person.
