Deer of Beauty and Grace

By Lori Wright

As I drove to work this morning in a hurry as usual, my head somewhere else in the day, I rounded a corner and saw something move on the side of the road. As I approached, I saw a beautiful doe that clearly had just been struck by a car. She looked over at me, one eye that beautiful soft brown, the other eye red and bleeding. “Oh my gosh,” I thought, “I’m so sorry sweetheart”. She looked so innocent, caring for her wounds. I kept driving knowing that if I stopped it would only frighten her more. After a bit, I pulled to the side and cried, saying how sorry I was for her, and how I hated living in a world where people could hit a beautiful creature as beautiful as she was and not stop to care for her. I quickly snapped myself out of this line of thinking, knowing I had the ability to send her loving thoughts of good health and offer Reiki energy.

deerI pictured her in my mind and began telling her how special she was, how much she was loved, and that I was grateful she graced this good earth with her beauty. As I did this, I offered her Reiki as I pictured the two of us in a circle with golden white light with rays of energy shining down surrounding us. In this circle, I gently wiped her eye, sent her Reiki from the top of her head, and slowly moved down her body. In my mind’s eye, I saw her rise and stand as I moved slowly down her sides and down each leg as the energy moved out from my hands to her. As I did this, I wished her wellness and sent her love. After a time as if complete, she moved away from me, the light still all around her. As she walked out of the light and out of the “healing circle”, no words were spoken, yet I knew she was grateful, and felt better as she looked back at me and smiled a grateful smile.

I am not sure how today will turn out for this beauty, but I feel better knowing that I brought my focus around to not feel sorry for her and her apparent trauma, but to thank her for the beauty and grace she brought to this earth, and for allowing me the opportunity to send her energy.

I once again realize the benefits of being both a Reiki practitioner and animal communicator; having the ability to send focused telepathic messages in the form of thoughts of love and the pure energy, and the ability to send this energy over a distance to an animal too frightened for hands on work.

I realize that although my first reaction was to be very sad for her, seeing her in trouble, as a Reiki Master I know how to handle these situations and react with not only loving kind thoughts, but more importantly, offer the benefits that positive thoughts and healing energy from a distance can offer to heal any given situation at any time.
