Ronnie Rides The Reiki Wave: The Rest of the Story
By By Christy Johnston
Ronnie made his transition on July 1, 2005 at 11:20am. It was smooth
and peaceful.
The Rest of the Story: (Note: for this story's beginning, click here)
At the end of March, I received my Level II Reiki Certification with
more tools to help Ronnie. On March 29th, as I was starting a treatment
by visualizing Ronnie in a peaceful sunny meadow with the birds
chirping and the butterflies swirling around his head, that slide was
replaced with one of a powerful gladiator unsheathing a large sword.
Ronnie, with the help of Reiki, wanted me to remember that he is
strong, though the body is failing. The next day I visualized Ronnie as
a warrior for truth and nobility, and heard, ‘For joy!’.
Starting in Mid-May, my records show that Ronnie received only one
treatment a day for a couple of weeks. I don’t know if this was because
of the Level II training or because he had reached a good level of
comfort. At the beginning of June, my records show that many days he
received 2 or 3 treatments a day, for varying lengths of time, and
during the night. I would know because Ronnie would either look out of
sorts energetically, or he would come to me and ask for a treatment.
One night, Ronnie’s friend, Grace, kept licking my head until I got out
of bed to find Ronnie needing a treatment.
A couple weeks before Ronnie’s transition, he started having trouble
eating. On June 22, he choked on some food. For many seconds he could
not breathe. He collapsed on the floor and I thought he was going. I
immediately put my hands on him and started Reiki. Mysteriously, after
a few seconds, he started breathing easily. My husband said it was as
though Reiki helped his body relax enough so it could breathe again.
Ronnie got much weaker during the last 2 weeks of his life. But he
remained content and happy and eating. For about 4 days before Ronnie
passed, Amber, who had always looked to Ronnie for guidance and
comfort, was 'unexplainably' frenetic. She would bat at my hands and
cling to me. The first day, I finally offered her Reiki. She curled up
in my lap and went to sleep. For the next 3 successive days I also
offered her Reiki which she readily and gratefully received. She seems
to have come through the whole process okay, resting peacefully
now with the other kitties and spending a lot of time out in the sun.
On July 1st, Ronnie’s body started the transition process. I pulled him
out of his retreat, put my hands on him, and started Reiki. About 10
minutes into the treatment, there was an energetic push out of the body
and I believe that was when his soul left. I continued to offer him
Reiki for 3 ˝ hours on and off until his breathing stopped. I witnessed
the totally logical progression of the body winding down until it took
its last breath.
Ronnie lived almost a year after the cancer was first discovered. Not
only that, his year was filled with inner strength, happiness, and a
will to live. About 20 minutes after he passed, I started calling his
friends and one of them, his animal communicator, answered. She offered
to check in with him and heard, ‘I’m sooo happy. It was sooo easy.’ And
she felt that he was totally absorbed in love. Reiki eased his
transition and there is great peace in that for me, his devoted friend.
