Reiki Encounter with a Whale
By Ann Dwyer
I took a trip with the San Diego Museum of Natural History to San Ignacio Lagoon in Baja to observe the grey whales who were still enjoying the protected waters there before their journey to Alaska. They were all mother and baby whales. I had been told that they are so trusting and friendly that I might be able to touch one if I was lucky.
As it happened, on 4 occasions these magnificent creatures approached our small boat and I was able to lay my hand on them for a few magical moments. It was a thrill beyond compare becoming one with this indescribable power tempered with gentleness. The mother whales were approx 50 ft long weighing 40 tons, yet brought their babies for us to caress and it was so moving that the first time I just bawled. I am pasting a photo of my "Reiki" touching (I am wearing pink jacket) but in truth it was definitely the whale who was offering the Reiki.
