Animals as Reiki Healers
By Nada Rodgers
Animals are intuitive creatures with a natural ability to heal each other and humans in many ways. Their capacity for unconditional love is
boundless and their sharing without bias puts me in awe. Companionship for the lonely, protection and healing are just a few examples of their
roles in our lives. I believe that this is because animals are natural "Reiki" facilitators.
I was taught that Reiki is defined "universal life force". In my liletime experience with animals I have learned that animals
naturally connect to this energy force and direct it to help each other and humans . Instinctively they can absorb our negative energy (what is
causing pain or otherwise) and dispose of it from their bodies. Humans have not always been clear of their intention with animals but animals
are always clear with their intention to send energy for only the good of the recipient. I would like to share a few stories of animals
helping people with Reiki.
I have been blessed to have experienced healing animals with Reiki and equally blessed with experiencing healing from them. Maggie, my natural
healing cat, has helped me to heal others and myself a few times. One day I was laying on the couch working on healing a painful knee that
was a problem for over a month, Maggie came up and laid across my knee with her belly flush over the painful area . Her weight was as light as
a feather. She stayed there purring for about 10 mnutes and then jumped down. My pain was gone and has never come back. Another time I had a
client who was about to go for surgery to remove a pancreatic tumour that had a 99% chance of being malignant. During the treatment Maggie
once again hopped up and laid across my client's abdomen. When the teatment was done the lady got up and said, "I know i will be fine
now." She went for surgery and all was benign.
I have also witnessed animals healing on a more general level. My friend Joan had given her dog up to a friend as she no longer was
physically able to handle her needs. Joan had become somewhat disabled, able to ambulate short distances only and requiring some help for other
things. I visited her one day and found her place emotionally dark and cold and Joan herself very depressed. Joan had called and wanted to
adopt a cat. I drove her to a rescue centre where Joan immediatlely was drawn to a year old female calico, who was healing from a wound she had
received before she was rescued. Joan did not hesitate; she adopted Mitsy. The next day I visited Joan to see how things were
going. What a change! Her house expereinced a positive transformation. There was light and happiness; Joan looked like she had been reborn. I
believe Mitsy filled the house with Reiki energy when she moved in and brought it back to life. Both are doing good together to this day.
Being attuned to Reiki was the best gift I received in my life. I always feel even more blessed as I learn more from the love and
compassion of animals and their ability to send Reiki energy without bias. My house is "Reiki Friendly." Anyone who visits feels better
when they leave. My cats make sure of it.
