Welcome!

Animal Reiki Greetings to all!

This issue's theme is Most Memorable Animal Reiki Treatments. Once again practitioners participating in this issue come from around the world--from California, to Canada, to the United Kingdom! It is wonderful to see the work everyone is doing and interesting to see the similarities in results.

The first article is an interview with Christina Rohla, a trainer at Guidedogs. I am very proud of my Reiki students there; they are actually pioneering a "Reiki program" for dogs in training. The second article is by Anne-Marie Marrie, one of my correspondence course students. She has a wonderful intuitive gift with horses. The third article is by Liz Pritchard, a gifted Reiki practitioner and teacher in England. The three short stories of her work with Reiki are very inspiring. An interesting observation about this issue: Anne-Marie's and Liz's articles are very similar in spirit: in discussing the showing of animals, they bring up some very provocative points!

In this month's Readers Questions, I discuss how to learn to listen to your intuition. Find out the answer below...

Also, visit the Share Your Stories section below to find out about contributing to a future newsletter. Your experiences with animals and Reiki will help and inspire others!

Don't forget to check out the Upcoming Classes section to see some of the new and expanded training programs at Animal Reiki Source. I'm happy to support you in your practice through these classes!

And finally, visit our Quick Links section for links to the Animal Reiki Source website, as well as some of my favorite animal links: BrightHaven, Natural Horse Talk, and The Elephant Sanctuary. All 3 sites are very informative and have wonderful newsletters. In addition, BrightHaven, located in Santa Rosa, California, offers regular classes in holistic animal care.

With Love and Reiki Blessings,
Kathleen

Reiki for Guidedogs in Training
It is my honor to present this interview with Christina Rohla, Guide Dog trainer in San Rafael, California. I had the privilege of teaching Reiki I to a group of Guide Dog staff and have enjoyed watching the Reiki program take flight, bringing healing to their work.

Empathy and Communication
Sometimes lack of empathy from the horse's person can be the cause of problems with the horse. I was involved in a horse show over the past week and had the opportunity to speak with a competitor who was worried about her horse. He was not used to being trailered, and was obviously shaken up by the event (he was showing the whites of his eyes). She told me he was stubborn as well. I explained how Reiki can be a benefit to horse and rider before competition and she decided to let the horse have a treatment. She opted not to be a part of the treatment herself, so I led the horse to a far field and tied him loosely to the fence.

Reiki for Transitions, Reiki for Recovery, and a Reflection on Dog Shows
Shula‘s Story: I am privileged to work alongside Tim Couzens, one of England’s leading holistic vets, who specialises in acupuncture, homeopathy and herbs for small animals, horses and farm animals. When his treatments cease making a difference he hands his patients over to Reiki, whilst keeping a record of their progress and occasionally topping-up with his treatments. This was particularly true with his most longstanding client whom he had treated since a pup.

Readers' Questions:
Question: How do I learn to listen to my intuition? Usually when I give Reiki treatments I don't "get" anything, except maybe some heat in my hands sometimes.

Answer: First of all, the amount of information you receive intuitively during a Reiki treatment does not affect the effectiveness of the treatment. In other words, the treatment does not depend on YOU, but rather on Reiki. Reiki will go where it needs to go!

But on the other hand, it is also true that doing Reiki regularly with your animal friends will bring a deeper sense of connection to them, which will in turn deepen and improve your intuition about what may be going on healthwise.

To help clear your mind so you can listen more easily to information that may come through, try meditating before you give a treatment. If you have a regular meditation practice, try incorporating it into your Reiki self-treatments and see what happens. I find that the partnership of Reiki and meditation is a supportive combination, each enhancing the other.

You may have read books and watched shows about animal communication. But remember, intuition comes in unique ways to each person. The way you may "get" information, may differ from how another person does. So instead of putting yourself into a box, expecting things to happen a certain way, try to relax, open yourself to the possibilities and see what happens!
